Campaigns
  1. Campaign for marginalized groups' right to natural resources in Royal Chitwan National Park: The campaign in partnership with Action Aid Nepal is focused on poor tribal and indigenous communities facing livelihood crisis and residing on periphery of national park in Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts. After years of local movement by tribal fishing communities for fishing right in Narayani and Rapti river and protesting human rights violations perpetrated by conservation authorities and armed security forces, MMBKSS, emerged as a vibrant people's organization. Flood hit Kumals, indigenous communities, acquired just compensation from national park authorities after years of continued struggle. Campaign for just compensation against crop damage and human casualties by wild animals, loss of land by flood, access to livelihood resources of the park are continuing.
  2. Campaign for Chepangs' right to citizenship and land:Chepangs are one of the highly marginalized indigenous nationalities. The campaign is a part of 'Chepang mainstreaming project' in collaboration with Nepal Chepang Association and SNV Nepal, supported by Eco Netherland. The campaign is ongoing in 4 districts- Chitwan, Makwanpur, Dhading and Gorkha. As of now around 4000 Chepangs have acquired citizenships. Their land rights campaign, chiefly, legal registration of unregistered land occupied by Chepangs through media, direct mass actions, and dialogues are going on.
  3. Campaign for right to livelihood' in Protected Area:The focus of the campaign is minority groups affected by protected areas such as Sonaha , traditionally engaged in gold mining and fishing in the river and Malaha , traditional fishing communities. The campaign is being executed in Bardiya National Park and Koshi Toppu Wild Life Reserve, chiefly in the 3 districts of eastern and mid-western Nepal . The campaign is collaboration with Royal Danish Embassy via Danida-Hugou, since April 2006. The campaign is being launched in partnership with NGOs such as KVS in Saptari district; UCHEP in Sunsari district and PCDF in Bardiya district.
